Bret D. Allen | Attorney, The Allen Law Firm, Creditors' Rights


Mr. Allen, owner and founder of Allen Law Firm PLLC, is a Creditor’s Rights and Business attorney in Irving, Texas.  Mr. Allen has successfully defended clients in bankruptcy, foreclosure, eviction, litigation, and probate proceedings in Texas, Arizona, Arkansas, New Jersey, Utah, and California. He currently defends national banking clients and servicers in bankruptcy, auto, unsecured, and mortgage default cases. Mr. Allen brings a commonsense business approach to the default process and he understands the needs of large creditors to quickly, efficiently, and effectively dispose cases and secure collateral. He previously co-chaired the commercial lending group for the American legal and Financial Network, a national organization for legal and mortgage professionals. In his role as co-chair, he worked heavily with other legal professionals, national servicers, banks, and other aspects of the lending industry.




Ed Boltz, ESQ.Attorney, Board Member, National Association of Consumer Bankruptcy Attorneys


Mr. Boltz received his B.A. from Washington University in St. Louis in 1993 and his J.D. from George Washington University in 1996. He is a member of the North Carolina State Bar, where he has been certified as a specialist in consumer bankruptcy law. He is admitted to practice before the Districts Courts in both the Eastern and Middle Districts of North Carolina. He is a member of the Law Offices of John T. Orcutt, P.C., where he has managed the firm’s office in Durham, North Carolina since 1998, representing clients in not only Chapter 13 and Chapter 7 bankruptcies, but also in related consumer rights litigation, including fighting abusive mortgage practices. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors for NACBA, where he is jointly responsible for directing the State Chair program, Mr. Boltz serves on the Bankruptcy Council for the North Carolina Bar Association and previously served as the Bankruptcy Chair for the North Carolina Association of Trial Lawyers.  Mr. Boltz’s term as NACBA’s President commenced January 1, 2013.




Henry E. Hildebrand III | Chapter 13 Trustee, Nashville, TN


Mr. Hildebrand has served as Standing Trustee for Chapter 13 matters in the Middle District of Tennessee since 1982 and as Standing Chapter 12 Trustee for that district since 1986. He also is of counsel to the Nashville law firm of Lassiter, Tidwell, Davis, PLLC. Mr. Hildebrand graduated from Vanderbilt University and received his J.D. from the National Law Center of George Washington University. He is a fellow of the American College of Bankruptcy and serves on its Education Committee. He is Board Certified in consumer bankruptcy law by the American Board of Certification. He is Chairman of the Legislative and Legal Affairs Committee for the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees (NACTT). In addition, he is on the Board of Directors for the NACTT Academy for Consumer Bankruptcy Education, Inc. Mr. Hildebrand has served as case notes author for The Quarterly, a newsletter dealing with consumer bankruptcy issues and Chapter 13 practice in particular, since 1991. He is a regular contributor to the American Bankruptcy Institute Journal. He is an adjunct faculty member for the Nashville School of Law and St. Johns University School of Law.



Hon. Randall Newsome (Ret.) I Fmr. Chief Judge U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of California


Honorable Randall Newsome successfully served as a mediator in hundreds of cases both during his 28 years as a bankruptcy judge and as a full time neutral at JAMS. He has handled both local and national matters involving complex bankruptcy and commercial issues, including claims of breach of contract, nondischargeability, fraudulent transfer suits, mortgage fraud, employment discrimination, and lender liability. Judge Newsome is best known for his intelligent and pragmatic approach to resolving complex matters and he is frequently sought out as a national speaker on topics related to bankruptcy. He has a unique ability to bring about appropriate resolution based on the nature of the parties’ continuing relationship. Judge Newsome was recently chief judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court, Northern District of California. He also previously served as a visiting judge in the Central District of California, the Western District of Washington, the District of Nevada, and the District of Arizona. Between 2001 and 2003 he was a visiting judge in the District of Delaware, where he presided over numerous complex matters.


Christopher J. Willis I Partner, Ballard Spahr LLP


Mr. Willis is Co-Practice Leader of the firm's Consumer Financial Services Litigation Group. He devotes his practice to assisting financial services institutions facing government investigations and examinations, counseling them on fair lending risk and compliance assessments, and defending them in individual and class action lawsuits brought by consumers and enforcement actions brought by government agencies. Mr. Willis also chairs the firms Fair lending Task Force. His clients span the financial services industry and include banks and non-banks, mortgage banking lenders and servicers, debt collectors and buyers, third party service providers, student lenders and servicers, and auto finance companies. Mr. Willis has represented multiple financial services companies in responding to civil investigative demands issued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) in areas including auto finance, mortgages, credit cards, payment processing, credit card add-on products and debt collection. He speaks nationally on the subject of consumer financial services law and has been featured in numerous articles in publications such as the
Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, American Banker, National Law Journal, BNA Bloomberg, and Bank Safety and Soundness Advisor

 

Ryan O'Hara I Consultant, TransUnion


Mr. O'Hara is a consultant in Data Acquisitions Services within the Innovative Solutions Group at TransUnion. He has been with TransUnion for over 6 years, all within the Data Acquisitions area, and has developed a strong knowledge base in all things credit reporting. Mr. O'Hara currently supports multiple tier 1 customers and is a lead for training new associates. In early 2017, Mr. O'Hara joined the Consumer Data Industry Association (CDIA) Task Force on behalf of TransUnion where he continues to put his knowledge of the industry to use. 


 

Jared Weeks I Manager, Data Acquisition Services, TransUnion


Mr. Weeks is the Manager of Data Acquisition Services within the Innovative Solutions Group at TransUnion. With 11 years of experience at TransUnion in Data Acquisition Operations, Jared has been responsible for supporting various customers across all tier levels, managing the Alternative Data Vertical, and overseeing the general core credit data reporting industry knowledge. In 2016 Jared further expanded his role to align operational support teams in North America, by combining management of the US credit reporting processes with those in Canada. In addition, Jared has held a position for the past 5 years on the Consumer Data Industry Association (CDIA) Task Force on behalf of TransUnion. Chairperson - Effective 2017.
