 According to this week’s AIS InSight, bankruptcies reached a post-BAPCPA high in March. Let’s take a look inside the numbers of our weekly bankruptcy statistics report:

• 159,300 U.S. bankruptcies were filed in March 2010, based on information released in the latest edition of AIS InSight
• The total signifies a 33.87% increase from the previous month, and a 21.40% increase from March 2009
• Chapter 13s totaled 38,357 (24%) while Chapter 7s reached 119,526 (75%)
• More than 1.5 million bankruptcies have been filed in the last 12 months

American InfoSource projections show monthly filing totals staying above 135,000 through October.
